Common flu, also influenza is a kind of respiratory illness with its symptoms like both chest and head cold, Common flu is caused by viruses. Common flu is however different in a way that its symptoms include fever, headache, and sore muscles. Influenza, however, can be a mild to extreme illness that can, unfortunately, lead to death. A person usually catches on flu suddenly, with no prior signs. Some people especially kids may have on signs such as vomiting and diarrhea. A fever is not common in all individuals who contract the flu.
Here we have some symptoms of the common cold.
Symptoms Of Common Cold
- cold chills
- muscle pains
- runny nose
- feelings of fatigue.
This virus may come on with a variety of complications such as pneumonia. Pneumonia is, however, a disease that can be caused solely by influenza or bacteria together with the flu. It may lead to the inflammation of the heart, brain, or muscle tissues. It may also lead to the failure of organs such as kidneys and the respiratory organs. When the flu virus attacks the respiratory tract, it may cause the body to have an inflammatory response that can lead to sepsis, a body’s extreme reaction to infection that can cause organ damage and may lead to death.
For people that are already suffering from illnesses, the flu may make it worse. For example; people that are suffering from asthma may experience attacks once they contract the flu and those with chronic heart disease may experience a surge in their pains.
People at higher risk of contracting this virus are kids below five years old and especially those of two years and below, adults above 65 years old. These are people with low immunity. Others are some people with underlying conditions such as asthma, chronic heart disease, and diabetes. Flu tends to get the best of these people.
Symptoms Of Common Cold in Adults

- bluish face and lips.
For the flu, its contraction is abrupt, unlike the cold which is gradual.
Diagnoses of Common Cold
For one to truly know if they have the flu, there are different tests available usually tested on respiratory specimens. The common is the rapid influenza diagnostic tests that work by detecting the different places of the virus that causes an immune response. This test takes a minimum of 10 minutes to give a response that may not be accurate.
The treatment of the flu consists of antiviral drugs. Antiviral drugs when administered can lessen the days one is sick. They can also reduce the risk of serious complications that come about with the flu. Someone with mild flu should lessen interactions and ensure they are better as they seek treatment. If a person with underlying conditions contracts the flu, they should immediately contact their doctor for help.
