As we were nearly completed, we noticed that an elderly woman sitting alone, drinking milk waiting for her meal. A thousand thoughts went through my head. She appeared very lonely. Can she be widowed? Where is her loved ones? Why is she at the restaurant at nearly 8 pm (which can be stereotypically like midnight in old folks time). Seated next to us were big, tight, middle-aged, blue-collar, hard-working, hungry guys. I asked Tom if we should buy her dinner or if we should go sit with her… then our boy did/said something that momentarily distracted but when we looked up, these large burly men were moving the frail older woman to their table. We chose to see them interact. The old woman was grinning from ear to ear, her face lit up and she was talking like she had not spoken to another person in a really long time. As we left, we left them a little cash for their meal and Tom thanked them for restoring our faith in humanity. I snapped a photo but I shall forever remember this instant.
