You can also make your own sports drink by adding a teaspoon of salt to a quart of water and keep on drinking to retain the fluid level of your body. 

Use common table salt to soothe your tired feet 

If your feet are aching or you feel you can’t take another step, add two cups of Epsom salt to a gallon of warm water. Dip your feet in this water and see how the pain flies away. Epsom salt contains magnesium which keeps your muscles from getting stiff with pain. Though we’re not sure your skin absorbs the salt as there’s no proof of that, still the warm water will definitely make you feel relieved. So, go on and try using Epsom salt.

If you have a sore throat you can ease the swelling and get relieved from the scratchy feeling by gargling some lukewarm salt water. Add ½ teaspoon of salt to a cup of lukewarm water and mix till salt dissolves.

If you or someone gets bitten by a mosquito or a bug and it turns itchy and red, dip your finger in water and dab on some salt. Apply the salt on your finger onto the bite. The itching and swelling will go away. You can also use common table salt to  relieve hive rashes, angioedema and poison Ivy.

Baking soda also falls in the category of salt and happens to be a natural antacid as well. Stir a teaspoon of salt in a glass of cold water and drink it after your meal. But if you suffer from heartburn often then do not treat with remedies by yourself rather go consult a doctor. Remember baking soda is a type of salt that means it contains sodium. Therefore, if you’re on a low-salt diet, your doctor will change it to another antacid. 

Sanitizing cutting boards at home

We all find it easy to cut vegetables on a cutting board and time to time again studies have proven wooden and plastic cutting boards harbor germs inside the grooves made by the knife while cutting, the reason many think twice before using it. Luckily, now you don’t have to think twice. Just wash the board with a salt scrub followed by your regular washing routine. If you use plastic boards for cutting meat, sprinkle some salt and bleach on the board and scrub with a stiff brush. Rinse with hot water. As for wooden boards, first sanitize the board by rubbing salt by using a lemon wedge and then rinse normally. 

Treat Psoriasis and Eczema with common table salt 

Places like the Dead Sea in the Middle East or the Blue Lagoon in Iceland are mineral rich in salt making them an ideal places to soak in as the salty water acts as a moisture for your skin and reduces redness as well. Soaking in mineral rich salty water is beneficial in removing the scaly patches and the inflammation if you have psoriasis or eczema. But you don’t have to go to the Middle East or Iceland, you can soak right at home. For this all you need to do is add Dead Sea Salt or Epsom salt to your bathtub and soak in it for a maximum of 15 minutes. If you can’t get Dead Sea salt or Epsom salt, a cup of common table salt added to your bath water also helps ease eczema symptoms.
